GRA positions in Mechanical Engineering at Virginia Tech, USA

Dr. Jiangtao Cheng is seeking for self-motivated PhD students to fill multiple funded graduate research assistant (GRA) positions in 2022 spring and fall. Dr. Cheng is currently an associate professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering (ME) at Virginia Tech (VT) (http://www.me.vt.edu/people/faculty/jiangtao-cheng/). If you are interested, please read the following information and submit an application to the PhD program in ME at VT.
Research Topics:
The students will be working on projects which may cover the following areas
•       Experimental Fluid Mechanics
•        Interfacial Phenomena and Surface Wetting and Electrowetting
•       Microfluidics and Nanofluidics and Optofluidics
•       Heat Transfer and Thermodynamics
•       Optofluidic Biosensing and Near Surface Sensing
•       Microfabrication and Nanofabrication
Quantifications:
•        Strong interest in fluid mechanics and heat transfer or biosensing
•        B.S/B.E degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering or physics.                 A master’s degree with corresponding research experience is preferred
•        Strong theoretical background in fluid mechanics and hands-on experimental skills. Students with clean-room experience are preferable but not required.
•        Publications are not required.
