护照马上过期，F-1随之失效？

我护照2/7过期，去年6月就小程序申请了，9月份初审通过，然后因为以为不着急，就没直接邮寄材料，直到12月才开始邮寄。
12/27到达DC领事馆，至今11/17仍然复审中，说是有员工感染了，休息中。
直到今天我才知道F-1必须有valid护照，不然就是out-of-status。真是疯了，之前都不知道这个规定，学校也从来没强调过，也没发邮件提醒我。
不知道怎么办才好了。

Update 一下学校的回复：

It is advisable for F-1 students to always maintain a valid passport and to make efforts to renew passports before they expire. We recommend keeping documentation of your efforts to renew your passport.

Your F-1 status will not expire when your passport expires and you can continue maintaining F-1 status after your passport expires. If your passport expires, you may face additional challenges in doing things like travel, applying for a driver's license, etc. When entering the US, F-1 students are required to have a passport that is valid for at least six months beyond their contemplated period of stay in the United States.

You can submit your request for CPT employment authorization while your passport renewal application is pending.
Additionally, when applying for OPT, students can include a copy of the biographical page of their passport with an expiration date that is at least 6 months into the future or with proof of an application for a passport renewal if the passport is expiring/expired.

You will need to check with the Human Resources department to determine how an unexpired passport may impact your employment.

Once you receive your renewed passport, please upload a copy in iStart using the Immigration Document Upload e-form.
还需要跟学校HR确认是否会影响i-9从而影响GRA。不过F-1没啥问题。

i20没过期应该就没事

F1身份失效由I20上的时间决定，人在美国就没事。要是出入境的话，貌似旧护照F1 visa上要是没过期的话可以和新护照一起使用。

只要你不出境就没什么问题

美国境内的身份不是靠I20维系嘛？护照不是在出入境的时候才起作用？

抓紧电话和（不是或！）email催大使馆，保留好email，和领事app截图。记得在地里看过类似的帖子，帖子里是学校建议留好证据证明是不可控因素（证明不是你的错）。别忘了检查i94过期时间。
