Position Description
Dr. Jianhua (Jessica) Zhang (https://webspace.clarkson.edu/~jzhang/) is currently seeking for students at the Ph.D. level for research in areas of renewable energy integration, data-driven power system operation and control, smart grid, and cyber-physical energy systems.  Competitive graduate assistantship will be offered to good candidates. Her detailed research interests include:
•        Scalable and resilient optimization control for power grid operation (cyber-resilient control, uncertainties-resilient control, cyber-physical co-simulation and HIL test)
•        Machine learning (DRL) and quantum machine learning for autonomous energy systems
•        Data-driven thermal modeling for power transformers
•        Offshore wind energy integration (Partnering with New York Power Authority)

Position Requirements:
•        Solid background in power system/microgrid operation and control (optimization, software architecture, and programming experiences with C/C++, Python, and Matlab), communication network (e.g., NS3 simulator), and machine learning techniques.
•        Applicants should have research experience in one of the following: power systems, computer science or computer engineering, communication network, and applied mathematics.
•        For BS graduate - top GPA is required; For MS graduate - he or she should have at least one first-author paper accepted or under view.
•        Effective oral and written communication skills.
•        Willingness to explore new areas, and ability to work with others as part of a project team.

Preferred Qualifications:
•        Power systems, smart grid or/and renewable energy-related research experience
•        Previous hands-on experiences on Hardware-in-the-loop projects, such as OPAL-RT/RTDS systems, communication network, optimization control and machine learning algorithm
•        Previous publication record on IEEE conferences
