NEU疑似不会延长I20

International students coming to Northeastern

This is for International students coming to Northeastern in the fall, especially grad students.

NEU is changing their i20 policy and they wont be extending your masters degree for more than two years. Their website still says your degree will be from 2-2.5 years but your i20 will be valid for 24 months and Northeastern wont be renewing you an i20, like it earlier used to do. So you are left with two choices -
Either take online courses in summer and fall semesters during your internship and co-op. (Like other universities)
Or dont go on a fall co-op, just summer internship (like other universities)

An official decision is yet to come, but accept your offers wisely. The advantage of going on multiple coops/internships is not possible at neu anymore. I don’t understand how they can do this mid degree but this is what’s going to happen

if you are cs align admission, you are fine. because you still get 3 years i-20 (but correct me if they change this as well).

the problem of this mostly concerns with cs general admission as the "maximizing CPT" (aka two coops + intern) becomes problematic if without extension.

But for ppl who want to do just 1 coop + summer intern (based on my observation, this is the majority of cases), you only need to take an online class during your coop/intern. This shouldn't be too much of a problem since most online classes are light loaded.

最近正好和career advisor聊了，他也提到这个问题。说还没有正式通知，但是很有可能会出。真不知道neu怎么想的。

22 fall的还是三年到2025年5月，所以不知道针对general还是政策难产了？

align给的I20都是3年啊，为啥说不给延长了
