以下是英文介绍和背景要求

Dr. Wang's group is seeking a qualified Ph.D. student to conduct research in the area of smart manufacturing. This is an emerging research area with intersection of data science and manufacturing.
The primary research tasks would include
1) building smart sensing system,
2) developing advanced analytic approaches for real-time recognition and process control,
3) conducting (manufacturing) experiments, and
4) publishing high quality scientific journal papers.

Desired Knowledge and Skills:

• Experience with different software and computational learning technologies such as Python (preferred in Linux OS), LabVIEW, CAD Solidworks, and MATLAB;
• Hands-on experience with sensor technology and CNC machine is a plus;
• Excellent knowledge of material mechanics (for metallic and composite materials) is a plus;
• Solid understanding of dynamic system and advanced statistical/machine learning approaches, such as deep learning models, reinforcement learning, Gaussian process and kriging;
• Good communication skills;
• Quick learner and able to improvise to solve problems.
