The Additive Manufacturing and Intelligent Systems Laboratory in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Central Florida (UCF) has one Ph.D. opening in Spring or Fall 2023. The research focus of this lab is to develop new computational and experimental methods for manufacturing processes and complex manufacturing systems. Example research thrust areas include (1) data-driven and sensing-based smart manufacturing; (2) manufacturing process monitoring and structural health monitoring; and (3) additive manufacturing. Desired skills/experiences include additive manufacturing, signal processing, machine learning, engineering optimization or engineering mechanics. Ph.D. students will be fully-funded through the Graduate Fellowship or Graduate Research Assistant (GRA). An ideal candidate is expected to have an earned B.S. or M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Engineering Mechanics.
