Dr. Zhang in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at The Ohio State University is looking for multiple Ph.D. students. The expected start date is Spring/Fall 2023. Selected candidates will work on socially responsible machine learning, including topics such as algorithmic fairness, privacy, security, robustness, and interpretability. Bio: Xueru Zhang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at The Ohio State University (OSU). She is also affiliated with the Translational Data Analytics Institute at OSU. Before joining OSU, she received her Ph.D. degree from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Her research focuses on socially responsible machine learning and algorithmic decision-making. She was a recipient of the Predoctoral Fellowship at the University of Michigan in 2020, a Rising Stars in EECS in 2020, and a Caltech’s Young Investigators lecturer in 2021.
Dr. Zhang’s work has been published at top CS conferences such as NeurIPS, ICML, AAAI, ICDM, etc. She is also professionally active and has organized multiple academic events on the topic of her research, including workshops at ICML 2021 and ICLR 2022.
