分享一下Fall2023申请遇到的面试题目和一些自己总结的经验
基本上回忆起来的题目我都记下来了 希望对大家有帮助

分享两个我觉得面试过程中最challenging的点
1. Why school
我回答这个问题一般就是聊聊Faculty Fit, 看看这个学校有什么很强的地方，比如资源之类的, 大部分时候我说完几点Interviewer就点头过下一个问题。但有的学校会继续刨根问底, 质问我到底为什么要去他们学校，其他学校(如recommender的学校)也有很多这样的好faculty好资源, 你为什么不去他们那些地方？
所以为了预防遇到这种问题时回答不上了, 朋友们记得准备的时候多找一点非这个学校不可的理由，最好能问问一下内部人员(比如你的recommender, 他们学校的学生)了解这个学校自己最自豪的是什么

2. Your research interests
很多时候我说一个大概的research idea, interviewer就点头了(e.g.: I want to examine the impact of A on B)。
但也有很多faculty会对你进行刨根问底，如:
Why do you interest in the relationship between A and B
How do you think A impacts B? What is the mechanism underlying it? Give some examples
If you have the perfect dataset to test the idea, what will be the variables in the dataset and how will you use them?
What is the current literature and gap in this field you are interested in?
所以朋友们准备的时候记得想清楚一点呀

1. INSEAD Video Essay

• Academic Role Model
• Your level of exposure to intellectual research similar to a PhD
  

2. UCB MORS (Macro) 时间: 1月初 | 时长: 30min
Interviewers: two faculty members in one interview
General Question

• Why UCB
• Talk about one of your research projects. (+some follow-up questions)
• What questions do you have for us
  

Pre-interview Paper: 面试前发了一篇paper让我读 面试中会问我相关问题

• Summarize the paper
• In general, how solid/convincing do you find the arguments in the paper? (+follow-up questions)
• What do you think of the dataset in the paper? The statistical analysis? The explanation variables? The abductive approach?
• What other variables will you use to explain the pattern?
• What questions does the article raise for further research? (这个问题需要在面试结束后10分钟之类写一段written response)
