Utah 大学 scientific machine learning in ME or CS PhD opening

Dr. Yongzhi QU, an incoming assistant professor at the University of Utah is looking for 2 - 3 Ph.D. Students in Fall 2023, in the area of scientific machine learning, majored in Mechanical Engineering (can be Computer Science if desired). Research topics include machine learning for dynamic system modeling, symbolic regression, data-driven learning of differential equations, and AI-driven smart manufacturing. Foundamental research work in scientific machine learning is expected with solid mathmatics background or strong programming skills.
The University of Utah is a top-tier research institute, ranks around 110th consistently in recent years of Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU)，highest rank is 38th world wide in 2012, ranked 42th in 2013, ranked 66th in 2016. 广义的AI4Science，我们已经并且会继续开发性能类似于或者希望超过DeepOnet， Sindy，Neural ODE/PDE，data driven Koopman operator等的算法和工具。PINN框架不错， 作为constrained optimization， 如果能进一部扩展到实际应用场合甚至工业系统也是一个好的问题，欢迎来信继续讨论。
