谢谢你的建议，系里的大部分老师都认识我！之前seminar 做的presentation 得到了他们夸奖。还有一些老师，我曾经是上过他们课。觉得和系里其他老师关系应该都还不错，可以获得他们的支持

系里太年轻了，好像是前年开始第一批博士生。老师也没有几个，所以都和顾虑

这些在学术界都是很正常的事，美国和中国不一样：你在学校做的东西不是你的，是归学校的。我博士期间做的大部分都不是归我的，只有百分之十五左右可以被允许自己发文章，其他劳动成果都被学弟拿去发文章（作者没有我名字）。

其实这种情况才能真正激发一个人的全部潜力，你要是真混出来了前途无量，这个项目是什么科研项目吗？还是类似国内的横向？骗钱嘛适当造点假，反正负责人是他不是你！

对待这种怂货，你只要有点证据，录音什么的，不一定非要能做到呈堂证供的地步。他立马怂的要死。到时候又说还不是为你好，中国人要帮中国人之类的屁话。国产狗血电视剧里坑爹人物的真实写照。

I had to TA through most of my PhD. Call it Stockholm syndrome, but I enjoyed it, and often found it more fun than my research. Teaching is a good change of pace, and keeps you more active, since you are doing a wider variety of things, and have to be at certain places at certain times. You get more social interaction, both with students and other TAs, and if you TA introductory classes you can really bond with the large number of TAs on your team. It kind of felt like being part of a student organization, except I got paid, and we hosted midterms instead of parties.

You need your advisor to sign your thesis (already done) and to write you a good letter of recommendation - maybe still to come. If you stay but anger him, whether rightly or wrongly, it will be you that pays the price. If you quit, you again need to pay opportunity costs of reapplying and changing advisor. The best course could really be staying and not provoking him.

Advisor getting "first authorship" is common, accepted, and perfectly natural in some fields, even if it is a bit stupid. Having joint authorship with a professor can actually be a help to your career, even if he takes first authorship. Some people will just assume that he did all of the work (no matter the order of authorship), carrying you along. Others will just assume that you did all the work and he is first author by courtesy.

This is something you can't control. But a publication with your name on it anywhere is a plus for your career. If you want to fight a system that you think is stupid, wait until you have some power and standing in academia to back you up. Otherwise you get squashed before you have a chance to fly.

Work with him and get a good letter, even though he is a crazy micromanager.
