ultimate degree 的问题 以及writing sample

申请学校的时候发现有一个ultimate degree 的选项。现在还没定下来是读到硕士还是博士，所以我在想是不是填PHD录取可能性大些？毕竟MS是为了培养博士准备的。
如果到时候不去读博士，会不会有影响什么的？
另外一个就是writing sample 必要么？虽然是一个选项，不是必须，但是我觉得好像有writing sample 比较好。

Harvard的小秘回复我的是：
We don’t require a writing sample with the Statistics application. I wouldn’t say that it is always better to include it. It is hard to say exactly because the faculty who make up the review committee may have different ideas on what they are looking for...so even if you include it, some faculty may not review it since it’s not a required part of the application. As long as it is a strong writing sample, I don’t think it would hurt you, but it also may not benefit you in any way.

所以，如果你对你的research paper很有信心的话就交吧~

我的PAPER是中文的呐。。。= = 已经申请完了一些，都没交。

那我觉得就没有必要了，因为他们教授也看不懂呀~
