We are looking for passionate and dedicated PhD students to join our innovative research team in the Mechanical Engineering Department of the University of Melbourne. This is a fantastic opportunity for aspiring scholars who are eager to contribute to cutting-edge research in Design and Manufacturing. We have two open positions.


Fields of Research:
·       Generative design
·       Data-driven engineering design
·       Human-AI design collaboration


Qualifications:
·       Highly self-motivated and adaptable to learning new technical skills when needed
·       Strong mathematical skills
·       Strong skills in programming languages, such as Python, MATLAB, etc.
·       Well organized and attention to detail
·       Machine learning or deep learning experience preferred
·       Research experience preferred
·       Master's degree preferred


Responsibilities:
·       Conducting literature reviews and staying up-to-date with the latest research in the fields of generative design, data-driven engineering design, and human-AI design collaboration
·       Developing and implementing algorithms and models for data-driven design tasks
·       Collaborating with faculty members and other researchers to design and conduct experiments
·       Collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data using appropriate statistical and computational techniques
·       Preparing research reports, presentations, and publications to disseminate findings
·       Assisting in the preparation of grant proposals and progress reports
·       Maintaining and organizing research databases and documentation
·       Participating in regular research meetings and contributing to discussions and planning
