I strongly SUPPORT the extension of OPT. Here are my reasons:
1. I still remember what I learned from history course: After the second world war, Soviet and USA discussed how to distribute spoils. Soviet got machines and USA took talents. After decades, the fact shows contribution made by those talents were hundreds and thousands of times value than Soviet's machines. Talents are always the most valuable wealth not only now but in the future. Extension of OPT is strongly attractive for international talents and students who might play an important role in the future.
2. American history is a history of immigration and pioneer. Of course now USA is much powerful than 200 years ago, but is it properly to kick down the ladder now?No,  freedom and equality are the symbol of American spirits. Like the spirits, extension of OPT gives international talents more freedom and chances to contribute to USA. Also, American dreams is a dream to get equal chance to fight for someone own future. That is why I SUPPORT OPT extension.

  惊悉OPT延期形势如此严峻了，看来之前自己是盲目乐观了。相信很多人也和我一样，根本没意识到发生了什么。刚发了一篇评论 tracking：1jz-8m5e-ilj2
I strongly SUPPORTthe proposal for the following reasons: 1. There are many students graduating from US universities in the STEM field. OPT extension not only give them a chance to deeply understand American company culture, but also let them contribute to booming the economy. 2. Diversity is important to US. Many of those student became a bridge between US and other countries. They help people in their countries understand American culture and their way of doing business. There are even many CEOs of big international companies who studied in US, worked in US before they started their own business. Later, they came back and invested in US, creating jobs for American people. 3. Competition do exist between native Americans and international students. However, those students are not taking jobs from American people. Instead, they help keeping the American companies competitive in the global market. Because those students are equipped with good technology /science knowledge and are willing to apply what they have learned in school in practice.

As an international student, I strongly SUPPORT the proposal for the following reasons:
1.        It is unjust and shortsighted to deprive international students’ legal right to work in U.S. after graduation. Because there are many international students in scientific and technology fields making huge contributions to USA. STEM are very important for the US to keep its leading position in the world. Therefore, the government should let the students who learned knowledge from US universities stay in the country and let them keep making contributions to the US.
2.        Diversity is a good thing for the US. Usually, international students from all over the world can work together better. With the global economy developing rapidly, many entrepreneurs need more and more talented new graduates from many other counties who can bring innovative ideas and skills to their companies. Thus, giving international students especially STEM the opportunities to work in US after their gradation is crucial to the development of US economy.
3.        Competition does exist, but is not a bad thing. Admitted that every college graduate enters the job market to increase competition, but in the long term, competition can increases efficiency, accelerates development and benefits us all. Do not let irrational fear of competition ruin our true interest.

I am a STEM student coming from China. I got my PhD in Electrical and Engineering and a master in Statistics. Upon graduation, I got several offers in China and the US. And, I chose to stay here for several more years. The reason is simple. Since I got great education here, I want to reward back to the local economy. I also plan to have my own business here in the US and hire US citizens. The communities in my university treat me well. I want to pay back to them.
