有了cap gap以后不能申请opt extension？

今天给学校国际处打电话，想要打印cap gap的i20。同时opt 6.19就要过期了，本着保险的原则，想要申请opt extension。但是工作人员告诉我有了cap gap就不能申请extension，因为系统里就不能打印extension的i20了。不知道是不是这样，希望了解的同学解答一下。

My situation is kind of a reserve of your case but similar. I applied my STEM OPT extension in late March and my H-1B got selected in April. My current OPT card will be expired on June 14th.
I asked my school's visa office for a new cap-gap I-20 but my advisor said he can't provide one. Below is his response:

"The cap-gap option becomes available at the end of an OPT period, but your OPT period has been automatically extended by the application for the STEM extension."

But I think if your current EAD is not expired, it means your cap-gap OPT extension is not started yet. You still may be able to apply for a STEM OPT extension.   

Can I apply for the 17-month OPT extension while I'm within a period of cap gap extension?

Yes, you can apply for the 17-month OPT extension during the cap gap extension of OPT. However, you must ensure your employer requests the withdrawal of the approved or pending H-1B petition in time for USCIS to officially accept the withdrawal prior to October 1--otherwise, your H-1B will begin October 1, which cancels your eligibility for the 17-month OPT extension.

我又给办公室的主管发了邮件，她说没问题，估计早上问那位不太清楚。现在问题是不知道公司什么时候能开training plan，还有学校要花一段时间才能打i20

我也有这个疑问！

我想申请extension，同时在等Ｈ１Ｂ。主要是我现在的ＯＰＴ在六月末结束，然而我貌似８月末到９月初必须出国培训。所以大概必须得申extension了．．．．．．

不会吧，应该只是不受理而已。

对，如果是change of status，10月1号之前不能出境
