定位比较：
这个讨论很多了，重复的话就不多说了
说两个端木在别的地方没怎么看到的：
一是查找你感兴趣的program往年录取的学生的信息。去找department newsletter，autumn那一期，会有新录学生的名字，本科院校，and/or 专业。
UW和Berkeley的在网站上都能找到。别的学校还没有实验过。
有的学校网页上也会列出学生的简易背景，例如 JHU Biostat and Emory Biostat.
二是去student webpage，看他们的CV。不过这个途径找到的信息有限，只有一部分学生有webpage。
虽然本科出身学校在申请中起的作用有限，但多了解点情况，至少在选择reach school和safety school的时候心理有点谱。

申请材料：
default：official transcript(s), GRE general, TOEFL, 3 LOR
一些program有些不一样的要求：
Stanford & UNC stat program要求考GRE MATH sub
Stanford stat program要求两份official transcripts
U of Wisconsin， Madison的Stat program要求两份official transcripts
UC Berkeley： Descriptive list of upper division math courses: Please include department, course number and title, instructor, grade, school, text used and subject matter covered.
Cornell Stat MS/PhD program: 只要两份推荐信


Rankings：
US News就不用多说了。专业排名给出的学校有限，至少我看到的版本是这样的。综合排名是给本科选校的小盆友们看的，申grad school还是专业排名更重要。

btw，there are only 40 Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH)-accredited schools of public health. you can get the list from The Association of Schools of Public Health.

在这一页，Subject Area选择biological and biomedical science, Choose a Graduate School Program一项选biostatistics，就可以得到一个列表。九十多所学校，都有简单的介绍，包括faculty数量，申请截止日期，录取率，录取要求，等等等等。
