Fordham MSQF 面经，收到口头offer

给学弟学妹们做个参考～
Blackburn面的，在北京香格里拉饭店，过程跟之前的面经差不多，大家可以去chasedream上找找
以下为面试内容，括号里是我的回答


How are you this morning?
We have a faculty in the program from your University.
What makes you most exciting in the next 5 years?
(the uncertainty. I am excited to meet different people, do different thing, have various possibilities in the future.)
What makes you most nervous in the next 5 years?
(I may not achieve what I want to do due to restraints like visa problem.)
Introduce yourself.
Have you taken accounting course?
(no)
Talk about your experience at xx（一份quant的实习）.
(when I said I achieved an 8% return in three months, he asked what the 8% means if beta is 2 and market return is 4%, beta from capm. I said we didn't evaluate it using beta, instead, we used sharp ratio. He said it's the same thing, and I should take his finance theory class.)
Have you taken finance classes? What have you learnt?
(yes. time value of money, discount, compound, bond evaluation, share evaluation.)
How's your performance in the class?
(pretty good, actually I'm the class representative of the course. I gathered opinions from students and gave feedback to the professor to make the class better.)
What contribution have you made?
(I proposed to divide students according to different math background. And he said this is good. They also has this problem. students with different background are taking the same courses.)
Find the integration of (z)^2*(z+5)^9
(I used integration by parts to solve it. He said it's right, but he will use substitution and then expand, which is easier.)
Solve y''-y'-6y=0, y(1)=0, y'(0)=0
(I solved it correctly.)
x+y+z=100, find the maximum of xyz
(I asked for a hint. He said I can use Lagrange multiplier, which I'm not familiar with. Then he said I can use substitution and derivative. I got the answer x=y=z=100/3. He asked is this the final answer? What if x=1101, y=-1000, z=-1? What is wrong? I didn't know. He explained to me.)
What do you wanna ask me?
(I heard that the most important resources for students to networking is alumni, which is attractive. Could you pls elaborate it?)
Students have opportunities to meet and have dinner with alumni. When they have an open position, they will ask for resumes. It will a much shorter list compared with uploaded resumes online. There are also groups for students of different direction.
( What’s the most challenging part of the program that students find?)
Workload is heavy, compared to many other programs. Students need to take many courses at the same time, and spend much time to keep up with all the materials.
(What’s the most rewarding part that students find?)
When they get job offers. There was a student who got an offer in J.P. Morgan after networking with a graduate for 4-5 times. Outgoing people are ones who firstly get jobs. Are you such people?

(I have a strong background. I'm a good team player. I am a passionate person.)

我说没想到会这样给offer，他说反正8天后也会给，现在给是一样的，被肯定的感觉好棒～～～

整个面试持续了30多分钟，blackburn是项目的director，确实比较和善，不push，题不会做的时候会提醒，做错了也会提醒，面试过程比较放松。根据他开头和结尾的提问，感觉还挺看重personality的，喜欢外向的人，这点我没料到。他家确实校友资源比较丰富，位置好，还没想好去不去～ 祝我们都好运

今天收到了正式ad，5000奖，需要大四的成绩和两周的会计课

楼主你好，我也申了这个，2.13提交的。我想问下，是不是现在还没收到面试就意味着不会有面试了呢？

这个我也不知道哎。我只知道当时blackburn飞来了中国面试，上海四天北京四天，在这之前美本的有skype面试。你可以发邮件问问啊

我记得是11.01一轮，03.01一轮吧，我不是第一轮交的

三年啦 blackburn都不是director啦
