anyone notice that the automatic 180-day grace period OPT extension has gone?

Seems that OPT extension can not automatically extend for 180 days after receive the receipt...

上面这两句写得清清楚楚可以有180天。楼主能给个引用的句子么

LZ的意思应该是，我们的extension的category是c-3-c，但是在这个网页链接上找不到

If you file your extension application on time and your OPT period expires while your extension application is pending, USCIS will extend your employment authorization for 180 days.

多谢。可是另外一个关于180 天自动延期的eligibility category是怎么回事啊？我收到的receipt上也写了这个规定，也明确指出了要符合那几个category才能自动延期180天。我们的c03c不属于那些种类，这不是两个规定冲突了么？以哪个为准啊？

我收到的也是这样的 我也有点糊涂....但是他官网也不会乱说啊 晕了

googled again and found this one:
STEM OPT extensions continue to be valid for 180 days under a separate regulation
We would like to clarify right at the beginning that neither the benefits nor the limitations of this new 180-day EAD extension rule apply in any way to the 180-day period during which STEM OPT applicants can continue working for up to 18 months beyond their standard OPT EAD expiration date while their STEM OPT I-765 is pending. The STEM OPT 180-day period is based on separate authority at 8 CFR 274a.12(b)(6)(iv), and continues unchanged by this new rule.

The 180 day extension DOES apply to STEM applicants. Look for USCIS Publication M-274 which explains this (you can find it via Google). There is some confusion because the USCIS does say that the 180-day extension applies if you are applying for a new EAD in the “same category” - which has caused some employers to say that STEM applicants are applying for a different category because STEM is C03C while regular OPT is C03B. However, both are C03 (student practical training) and so it does mean you are allowed to continue working for 180 days.
