你说错了，只要你能在现有身份到期前transfer SEVIS record保持身份的有效性就可以接着续上F1。F1签证是D/S，入了境以后看的是你的I20/SEVIS。

能不能申CPT？至少CPT是可以申的，因为CPT是学校管。学校不会问，你就别主动说呗（我也没见过学校问的）。我就是楼主说的情况，OPT EAD expire后转学续上F1，用CPT没有问题。

Applying for OPT: The F-1 individual who has applied for an immigrant petitionmay apply for F-1 OPT and usually should get OPT. His or her immigration petition should not affect his OPT application. 到底是递交了140还是批复了140，我会说批复，主要是因为我的律师是这么告诉我的。但是我个人想法，递交上去后你都不知道什么时候会批复，想要离境续F1 stamp绝对不是明智之举。

听起来我好像说的OPT申请绿卡只有好处没有坏处？但是请注意它显而易见板上钉钉的pitfall：
1. 当你的I140递交（或者批复，具体哪个我不敢下结论。保险起见我们说递交，毕竟如果你加急的话当中只隔三五周可以忽略不计了。）后，如果你还是F1身份的话，你就不能靠交I539境内转成其他非移民签证。当初我想的很好，三抽不中转F2逍遥快活去，但是这条路其实因为移民倾向被封死了。如果你有H身份的配偶，那可以转允许移民的签证（H或者L），这个没有问题，你可以境内转H4等允许移民倾向的dependent身份。所以你需要一直维持F1不离境直到有H/L/etc.或者拿到绿卡。

2. 挂靠CPT，都提到挂靠了，就算保证了出勤率和门门100分，总归得承认不算是很legit的学校，一定会在日后申请H或者GC的时候raise a flag，这也是我目前最大的担忧。我周围是有朋友在挂靠期间顺利拿到绿卡的，所以我希望没有什么问题。除了挂靠CPT，你可以选择去一所好的学校重新上学，正经读书+等用CPT。这种方式能减少后患，缺点是会有很久不能工作。。。
