programming is not that hard.
but SDE is not just about programming.
language syntax is not programming.
you need to understand data structure and algorithms before you actually do anything.
you need to understand operating system and basic hardware knowledge.
Then there is compiler and computing theories.

for a starter, how many of these people who just switched into CS from a non-engineering degree would know how to do Threading?

Just because you witnessed someone getting a job in CS from community college does not mean everyone else can get a job in CS without college CS courses at all.

Also you need to understand someone pointing out the importance of a 4 year degree is not "talking shit", he even gave specific advice on how to approach the problem.

they can understand it != they learned it.
you can learn anything on the job, but that doesn't mean it is "not that hard".

"A lot of resources online" does not mean they learned it, they still need time and effort, which is limited.

You are trying to say who didn't find a job in SDE after community college degree is not capable to get that job in SDE anyway. That means getting a job in SDE is challenging naturally for some people. Hence the point of the original post.

What original post is trying to do is offering insights, so when people make choices about their major/career/life they have a more completed view, so they don't make regrets.

It is easy for anyone to say SDE is easy/hard/not challenging/challenging, but you need realize there are people who make the wrong decision/choice about this they end up in the miserary of life--they are not your problems, but it is human decency not to encourage people jump into tough careers and shame them when they fail.

There is responsibility in what you preach people to do, and OP is taking that responsibility by providing these insights, so it was not "talking shit about our people".

累啊，上一亩三分地来的都是拿绿卡的是吗？
绝大部分人转码的目的就是因为cs专业属于stem，stem对于h1b签证有帮助。拿绿卡了还存在h1b需求吗？

楼主劝人理智转码，你跑去说人楼主"talk shit about our people"......结果感情你说的根本不是一回事，你的 “our people”原来指的是已经拿绿卡的小伙伴啊，绿卡拿了应该好好追求自己真正的理想而工作，而不是为了就业这样的基本生存去转码，如果没有兴趣就更不用来了。

比较同意不要0基础，这里的0基础指的是文科生那种，电脑都玩不6的，除了自己肯特别下功夫，想蹭局势的太难了

我也很好奇，有的朋友在美国读1年就是cs硕士毕业了，有的读2年，还有的读3年。这种学历没有区别的话，那是不是大家都选1年的那种？ 对找工作有区别吗？
有些羡慕读1年就工作的硕士应届生，真年轻，羡慕。

是啊，有个牛逼的高中同学，保送清华机械系，第二年不开心换了个心理系，毕业了不开心转了cs，国内大厂工作了几年被fb挖了过来，真是聪明的人学什么都快，不服不行啊😂
