Cineworld CEO Mooky Greidinger told CNBC on Thursday that after the company reopened the cinema, tickets for the screenings had been sold out! Greidinger said that he was really surprised to see such a result. I felt that everyone was nostalgic for the cinema and wanted to go back to the big screen to watch the movie.
Cineworld, which is listed on the London Stock Exchange, operates nearly 800 theaters worldwide, including approximately 550 in the U.S.. The UK-based Regal Cinemas parent company currently has about 190 theaters open in the U.S. and plans to reopen about 100 more theaters in the next few days. At present, not every state in the U.S. allows theaters to reopen, and large markets including New York and California have not yet reopened. New York Governor Cuomo also said on Thursday that state officials have not yet decided when to allow the theater to reopen. source
