Ph.D. Opportunity at University of Notre Dame (Department of Computer Science and Engineering)
Openings:
The Social Sensing Lab in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Notre Dame has multiple openings for Ph.D. students to work under the guidance of Dr. Dong Wang (http://www3.nd.edu/~dwang5/) starting from Summer/Fall 2021.
Prospective students with an M.S or B.S degree (or expected by the time of admission) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or related fields are encouraged to apply. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to work on exciting research projects in emerging areas of big data, networking and systems, AI and edge computing. Examples include: (1) big data analytics, human-centric AI; (2) social sensing, crowdsourcing, human- cyber-physical systems; (3) smart cities, Internet of Things/Everything (IoT/IoE), intelligent edge; (4) misinformation detection on online social networks. Preferred candidates should have a strong background in data analytics/networking/statistics/embedded systems/distributed systems and/or solid system implementation and development skills.
The social sensing lab has state-of-the-art computing facility (e.g., CPU/GPU clusters, edge computing platforms) to support the research. The lab also has a very collaborative working environment and provides individualized mentorships and tailored career plans (e.g., academia, research labs and industry) for the students in the lab.
