The Environmental Biotechnology & Bioenergy Laboratory (EBBL) at Virginia Tech is looking for two PhD students starting in spring or fall 2014. The students will work on the federal- or foundation-funded projects to develop bioelectrochemical systems for energy-efficient wastewater treatment. The ideal candidate will possess a M.S. in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related fields, though exceptional B.S.-level candidates may also be considered. The past research experience in bioelectrochemistry (e.g., microbial fuel cells or microbial desalination cells), biological wastewater treatment, forward osmosis, and/or membrane bioreactors is preferred.
