The Center for Natural Resources (CNR) http://cnr.njit.edu at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) has funding (tuition+stipend) to support multiple Research Assistant positions in the areas of environmental engineering and hydraulic engineering starting in September 2021. The students would work on projects of contamination in natural systems, algae harvesting, coastal flooding and river hydrodynamics, and would matriculate in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at NJIT, http://civil.njit.edu/academics/graduate/phd-env.php, which is housed in the College of Engineering, ranked in the top 100 engineering colleges in the US by the 2017 US News and World Report. The CEE Department was ranked second in the USA in the College Factual report.
For the environmental engineering positions, the ideal candidates would need to have strong understanding of the fundamentals of water chemistry and environmental processes. For the hydraulic engineering positions, the ideal candidates would need to have a strong background in fluid mechanics, and mathematical and numerical modeling. The positions are offered on the Main Campus of NJIT in Newark, New Jersey, 20 minutes from downtown New York City.
Interested applicants are urged to email their application in one pdf file that contains CV, university grades and GRE scores, and research statement to the Center's Director, Professor Michel Boufadel, boufadel@gmail.com.
