关于tech lead的archetypes

后来有人问如何判断有升6级的scope。除了前面帖子里提到的问题，我专门提一下tech lead的archetypes。这些东西应该在很多公司都适用。
这样你可以看看自己比较适合哪种，然后这个组是不是需要这样的archetype，和提供这样的scope.
we have 3 SWE tracks: ML SWE, Product SWE, System SWE. Note: you may change your track if you can find a HM who wants to hire you. Thus, the work you work on can be different from your real SWE track.
Each archetype for the 3 tracks above
1. [broadth] team tech lead : own the whole tech scope of your team (usually team size 5-15). All the 3 tracks can have this type.
2. [depth] need to work on deep tech: ML and System SWE usually can have this type, but not for Product SWE.
3. [platform] infra / platform: ML (Infra), System, and Product SWE usually can have this type. Your team must have your own infra, or is a platform team with customers. Product SWE of this type usually works on product infra/platform.
4. [coding] coding machine: Product and System SWE usually can have this type. This type for ML SWE is typically for ML infra SWE.
5. [product sense] strong product sense: biz problem -> product solution, new product, new scope, new ML lever, hybrid of product swe+pm, hybrid of ML swe+pm. ML and Product SWE usually can have this type. Uncommon for System SWE, if you mainly work on infra problems.
6. [data sense] solve challenging questions related to biz+data: measurement, eco-system, metrics and measurement, short term vs long term metrics, full stack growth, hybrid of SWE+DS, etc. ML and Product SWE usually can have this type. Uncommon for System SWE, if you mainly work on infra problems.
7. [fixer] you need to under stand more about the current system / product, so that you know where is the bottleneck, and what is the solution. A simple solution can drive a significant metric win. All the 3 tracks can have this type, but it is challenging for new hires to be this type.

Sometimes, the boundary between those types are not very clear. You can be hybrid of some types of them.

这个东西很难说。没人有全部公司的数据，而是市场是在不断变化的。现在如何，不代表未来就是这样。四年前ml炒得很热，现在就有供大于求的现象。而且这些大方向也都有细分。细分的case也情况不一样。再加上个人擅长的和喜好都不一样，不能一概而论之。
很多人总是想问我，哪个方向最好最有前途，哪个组最好最有前途，哪个type最好最有前途，我只能说，没有具体答案，我也给不了你具体答案。我不是神。每个方向和领域都有失败的人也有成功的人。原因都非常复杂。不是一句话就解决了的。我从来不给这么简单的答案，我只知道guideline和framework，具体的东西要你自己去了解自己去分析，自己去找合适的方向。不要指望我告诉你答案。

请教下楼主怎么看这三种sde在市场上的发展前景，哪一种更受market追捧。。。

还有一点是每个人的背景和经验不一样，一方面其实已经有最适合的选项，一方面总有面向市场的换选项motivation。
个人认为，其实任何一个方向做到一定深度，都是市场供小于求的。

确实是这样。关键是要结合自身的长处和爱好，找到一个合适的market fit

Product SWE包括produce和infra track吗？

不是. 还有一个track 是system track
不过这些track不是绝对分开的，是可以互换的，只要manager肯招你就行，你自己也觉得自己能meets all
