以前叫marketplace,现在是commerce org
整体非常非常糟糕:代码质量就是屎,经常reorg,产品direction不明确,非常多XFN(开会),管理层混乱.
我摘抄一下blind上的讨论吧:
I have never seen an org as poorly run as Marketplace, not just at Facebook but in my roles at other FAANG. After spending 2 years here, I am done and will be moving away after next PSC. Here is a small selection of problems, the actual list would be much bigger.
1) No Vision - there is zero vision for Marketplace, only metrics. First it was MLI, then it was transactions. The entire org works like a growth team to pump these metrics at any cost. There is no vision or care for customer needs and how to build a sustainable product.. ----

2) Bad Leadership: beyond having no vision, the leadership doesn’t know how to build a well functioning team. A small example of this is the reorg from last week. They scheduled a 30 minute Q&A for the entire org of hundreds of people to talk about the reorg. The best part is they did not even take any advance questions. They answered a total of 2 questions from the crowd, the rest were pre-populated questions from leads. WTF is the Q&A even for if you are not going to take questions from on-the-ground people. After announcing the changes on the zoom call, they immediately pivoted to talking about how goals are not changing and new planning timelines. It was so tone deaf and clearly showed that they don’t care about the people at all. ..

3) Constant Reorgs: I lost count of the number of Reorgs. Just one year ago they split the org into shops and local using some bad reasons. They are now using worse reasons to go back to the old structure without admitting fault. There is zero accountability, just chaos. Everyone is looking to grow their headcount and nothing else.
4) Bad Product: there are so many scams and low quality listings, but no one cares. There is so much internal feedback that goes unacknowledged and straight up ignored. Some of the listing images look worse than what you can find on porn sites.
5) Poor strategy: they tried to build a shop tab which went nowhere. Now they want to use the traffic on marketplace to shove shops listings on everyone for pennies worth of transactions. Never mind that users actually come to marketplace for local listings. Obviously none of this is based in any strategy other than “Marketplace gets users, so let’s flood the tab with shipped listings” |
