PSU的拒信废话真多

Dear Applicant

We are sorry to inform you we are unable to offer you admissions to the
Graduate Program in Statistics at the Penn State University.  We deeply
regret we are not able to offer admissions to all of our qualified
applicants.  We process a joint admission for the MS and Ph.D. programs
an applicant who is not offer admission from one of these programs will
not be admitted to the other program.

We look for reasons to admit applicants - not reasons to reject. Because
of this, we do not have specific recommendations as to why you did not
receive an offer.  Due to the large pool of applicants, we do not have
the resources to advise you about the strengths and weaknesses within
your application.  The Admissions Committee spends an enormous amount of
time assessing each application carefully and weighing each applicants
academic record, achievements and statement of purpose.  We try to
consider both the potential for each applicant to be successful in our
program and our need to have a group of students which brings a variety
of strengths to our department.

We thank you for your interest in Penn State University and for giving
us an opportunity to consider your application.

这拒信的意思是MS和PHD一个录取条件吧？可想而知……被拒也很正常
