Weidong Cao's research group (https://sites.google.com/view/chalvescao/home), in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The George Washington University (GWU), has multiple openings for Ph.D. and post-doc fellows starting in Spring 2027. Candidates are expected to have a background in one of the following areas: agentic AI-driven framework development, deployment and post-training of LLMs/VLMs, physical AI, robots, scientific discovery, VLSI design, and quantum computing. If you are interested in one of the two topics shown below, I strongly recommend you reach out to me (weidong.cao AT gwu.edu).
Topic 1: Agentic AI-driven engineering workflow development (e.g., electronic design automation workflow) and scientific discovery (e.g., quantum algorithms and biological mechanisms);
Topic 2: Efficient and robust physical AI systems (e.g., world model, VLM/VLA model development and optimization, and sensor-algorithm co-design) and their applications in broad robotic and autonomous domains.
For post-doc fellows, candidates with strong research expertise and representative applications are highly prioritized and can start at any time. For PhD students, I can recruit you from ECE, BME, MAE, and CS departments.
All students and post-doc fellows are fully financially supported and will join our ongoing collaborations with industry (e.g., Nvidia/IBM) and national lab (e.g., DOE labs) partners, as well as faculty from other departments in the School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS) at GWU.
If you are interested in joining my group, please drop me an email at: weidong.cao AT gwu.edu. |
