I strongly support this policy, it’s going to be mutually more beneficial for both the international students who are talented and the US.

OPT stands for Optional Practical Training, it is designed for F1 nonimmigrant students to be authorized to work for up to 12 months as an opportunity to gain practical experience of what they learned in the universities before going back to their home country.

This benefit attracts many international students to pursue their higher education in America rather than in other countries, although they are paying a lot for the tuition. The tuition from international students consists a considerable amount of universities’ income. Among the international students, only those talented can be qualified to accomplish their degree and contribute to their research projects at school. Their knowledge, innovative ideas, and diligent effort are invaluable assets for their affiliated institutions.

OPT is a great program that allows international students to contribute their talents to the country that educated them. However, 12 months are a very limited time for the students, and especially those in STEM majors to fulfill their responsibility at work or in a research team, so to pursue an OPT extension after the 12 months became a successful solution since 2008 to enable those talented people to continue serving for their obligations. In addition, the prosperity of STEM fields may also attract more American students to major in STEM, which makes them more competitive in the job market.

Nowadays, there are emerging trends of STEM international students bring investments from their home country, and some of them found startup companies, which create more working opportunities to the rapid developing tech eco-system that promotes US economy growth.

I am really approval this rule. Because it will bring a lot of benefit to United States.

First of all, The OPT Extention will not influence the job finding of the native American. I am a EE master student. I have about 5 American friends in the same department. As I learned from them, about 3 of them have already got the offer from some company before they got into school. The tuition fee of one of them is even paid by the company. Thus, as I concerned, since the Americans have creative thinking and good selfstudy ability, they will not be affected to find a good work opportunities in the STEM area.

Secondly, in my department, there are only 5% of American people, the others all from different countries. Although the American students in our school studies very well, the percentage is very small and the overall number is about 10 to 15. And from the information offered by school, the overall percentage of STEM of American students is 8%. Imagine if STEM is cancalled, less talent will in these kind of area will make a contrubution to United States. And a lot of company can not hire enough people and the fittest one for the occupation. And now, the companies hire a lot of foriegners is not because the don't want to hire native Americans. It is because that the number of native Americans in ATEM area is not enougn at all. Since United States is a developed country, the STEM area always lead the step of the other countries, it needs the smartest people all over the world. Thus Improving and Expanding Training Opportunities for F–1 Nonimmigrant Students With STEM Degrees and CapGap Relief for All Eligible F–1 Students will definately attract more genius from other country. Which will lead the improvement of the economic of United States and help the STEM area be better.

All in all this new proposed rule will not affect the job opportunities of American and lead to improvement of the economics of United States.

请叫我**，phd撸完，就去工作呗，还能够干啥。。。主要是学的civil engineering专业，苦逼的很，master毕业找不到工作啊，所以只能够去继续撸phd。。。桑感。。。

I SUPPORT  the extension of the OPT. I own a house in America which nears a university, from what I've seen, extending the OPT will attract more talented young people from outside of America, and will definitely benefit this country.

1. Housing. Believe it or not, F-1 student contribute a lot to the people who have house or apartments for lease. In fact I am here supporting this extension is all because the F-1 kid who is renting my house invited me to do so. Me and many of my neighbors are renting houses to the F-1 students, and this is a very major part of our income. With the OPT extension policy, I am sure we will continue be able to have these smart young kids renting our places. Otherwise our income will be cut off largely.

2. Universities. Those kids are not paying nothing to come to this country to study in a fancy university. They pay. And they pay a lot. The tuition of the university which is near my place requires very high tuition. With the amount of the F-1 students, I believe the university can also benefit a lot from them. They pay us money, and we help them to be more intelligent. It's such a great business, why should not we do that?

3. Local economy. F-1 students need to live, therefore they need to purchase. The amount of money they spend in America can directly benefit this entire society. Which is great.
