请叫我**，phd撸完，就去工作呗，还能够干啥。。。主要是学的civil engineering专业，苦逼的很，master毕业找不到工作啊，所以只能够去继续撸phd。。。桑感。。。

I SUPPORT  the extension of the OPT. I own a house in America which nears a university, from what I've seen, extending the OPT will attract more talented young people from outside of America, and will definitely benefit this country.

1. Housing. Believe it or not, F-1 student contribute a lot to the people who have house or apartments for lease. In fact I am here supporting this extension is all because the F-1 kid who is renting my house invited me to do so. Me and many of my neighbors are renting houses to the F-1 students, and this is a very major part of our income. With the OPT extension policy, I am sure we will continue be able to have these smart young kids renting our places. Otherwise our income will be cut off largely.

2. Universities. Those kids are not paying nothing to come to this country to study in a fancy university. They pay. And they pay a lot. The tuition of the university which is near my place requires very high tuition. With the amount of the F-1 students, I believe the university can also benefit a lot from them. They pay us money, and we help them to be more intelligent. It's such a great business, why should not we do that?

3. Local economy. F-1 students need to live, therefore they need to purchase. The amount of money they spend in America can directly benefit this entire society. Which is great.

In my opinion, it is necessary for DHS to extend the OPT of STEM students by 24 months. It is not just good to international STEM, but will help USA develop their engineering technology and solve the unemployment problem.

The international STEM students who are studying in top 200 US institutions are talent students or elite engineers from their own country. Lots of STEM students join young technology teams to establish their own company after graduation. For example, the founder of Instagram is Mike Krieger, who is a international STEM student. These company can not only create new wealth to USA society, but create more employments and positions to native American people. One of my friends whose name is ***** just established his UAV company named ‘*****’. He is going to graduate and he need OPT to let him stay in USA to continue his work in his new company. No one wants to see this new tech company stops development and even collapse just because the founders can not stay in USA in law. Why not giving them time and chance to do what they can do for USA technology development?

Some people worry the extension of STEM will cause more pressure of finding jobs and competing with international STEM students. I think it is ridiculous. Firstly, most technology corporations just provide jobs for US citizens. So for these companies, there is no competence with international STEM students. Additionally, the upper limit of 80,000 H1b chances every year has limited the number of international people working and living in USA. The extension of OPT can not increase the number of immigrants.
