have recruited some STEM students for my company. They are mostly from China or India, and they are the most polite young people I have known about.
Not only are they assiduous, but they are doing the most difficult work. I think we need these smart students for help boost the economy. And they are not taking the jobs away, they just perform better in some fields because of their hard-working attitude.
Therefore, I support the OPT Extension Rule. Some of the work cannot be done without these young people. And they are not like to stay here forever, they are just earning some salary and experiences so that when going back to their own country, they can afford a house, pay back the tuition for studying abroad, and get a higher position in their native companies. Then we can hire younger STEM students to keep pace with the newest technologies.
It's a win-win solution for us all. ..
Let me ask, WHY NOT?

I strongly support the extension for STEM degree holders. As we all know, universities and colleges in the US are among the top around the world. A very large number of international students pursue their studies in STEM fields in these universities and colleges. They learn new knowledge and at the same time, they contribute their own knowledge and intelligence by producing research in academia and doing application in industry. These students, some of who become professors in the US, make undeniable contribution to the universities and colleges in the US. Why does not the governemnt offer them more opportunities to make contributions to these universities and colleges in order to secure No.1 status of the America's academic institutions in the world? I have no reason to say no to the extension.

I strongly support this proposed rule to allow international students to work here up to 36 months since it can benefit both international students and tech companies.

For tech companies, they need international students to take those roles. It is known that international students have very good performance in those fields. Otherwise, those companies wouldn't have hired them. Not passing this proposed rule means that those companies would lose a lot of competitive labors in the tech market. And their business may start declining if this proposed rule fails.

For international students, they need to find a job to cover the tuition and living expenses they spent during their study in US. As we know, that a lot of international students came to US with tuition loan from the government of their original countries. Besides, tuitions for international students are usually higher than citizens. It's hard to say that working here for only one year is enough for those students to earn the money back. Therefore, this extra extension would definitely relieve their finance situation.
