24个月的extension是否是个合适的长度，更短或更长是否（例如， 17个月或36个月）会更好？是否应该准许STEM学生在拿到第二个STEM degree后获得另外24月的OPT extension?

如果new rules在16年的2月13日到来之前没有通过，该怎么样对待在OPT extension的students?

STEM OPT延长对于STEM领域整体以及对于特定STEM领域所带来的学术利益。并且是否应该修改STEM所包含的学科？

I strongly SUPPORT this new OPT policy, because these who are opposing this policy did not bring up valid points and I do not want these comments cause problems for such a great policy.

Firstly, foreign students working on OPT PAY TAX and they help local economies. Without foreign students, US universities and research institutions will face huge loss.Those property renting, food service and other industries will face huge loss.

Secondly, here is no guarantee how long it will take and how much it will cost to train all US students  to fully compensate loss of foreign students. Without this policy, numerous companies in the United States will face serious shortage of STEM workers suddenly and tremendous loss.

Therefore, I highly support this new policy and really hope this could be APPROVED!!!!

I strongly SUPPORT the proposal for the following reasons:

1. OPT extension gives international students more opportunities to achieve their "American dreams", thus it will attract more and more international students come to here, international students pay much more tuition than native students, this is a very big extra income for American education.

2. There are thousands of international students get their jobs at IT company, they are brilliant and have high educational background, but only 50% of them can get H1B visa every year. If the OPT extension is canceled, the rest of these people will have to leave America immediately. This will be a significant lose to American economy.

3. The U.S. consists of immigrants from the old and most of them made a huge contributions to this country. For example, lots of people came to America during The Second World War, most of them are professionals, engineers and scientists (Albert Einstein is one of them). This is why American developed so rapid and strong after the war. The STEM OPT extension rule is right to keep these American future elites.

I strongly support the proposal for the following reasons:
1.        As an international student in the US, I learned knowledge from U.S. university and hope to contribute back to the country. Obviously, the knowledge would be better applied to where it comes from. Additionally, hiring international students helps and speeds up trade among countries without any cultural conflicts and misunderstandings.
2.        Some of my friends gave up their offers from top universities in U.K. and came to the U.S. It is not only because universities in U.S. have high standards of teaching and advanced laboratories, but also because U.S. has friendly policies for international students, i.e. extension for OPT. I believe most students would hesitate over their choices of coming to America if they lose this support
3.        Honestly, I do think many international students plan to return to their home country after several years in the U.S. It is important to gain the working experience in the U.S. before we return back to our countries. Without the working experience in the U.S., we lose a competitive strength comparing to other employees when we return to our countries. After several years’ working in the U.S. we may consider returning to find a better occupation in our own counties. There is no worrying about occupying job positions for U.S. citizens since some of us may not want to stay in U.S. permanently.
