Multiple PhD position openings in Rutgers University

Multiple PhD positions (CE/CS/EE tracks) with full financial support for 2019 spring/fall are available in Prof. Bo Yuan's group in Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in Rutgers University-New Brunswick. Prof. Yuan's research areas include machine learning, hardware design, signal processing and communication systems. Required background
---BS/MS degree in CE/CS/EE/Applied Math/Statistics/Physics

Preferred background for CE Track (at least one)
--- Solid background on computer architecture/VLSI architecture/circuit design
--- ASIC or FPGA design experience

Preferred background for CS Track (at least one)
--- Solid background on machine learning (e.g. deep learning, reinforcement learning or probabilistic graphical model)
--- Strong programming skills (e.g. C++/Python/Java)
--- Strong GPU programming or HPC system experience

Preferred background for EE Track (at least one)
--- Solid background on signal processing/communication/statistics/optimization/control
--- Interest in the intersection between theory and application

Strictly speaking, my application belongs to EE track. I still feel a little confused. I know your requirement but I'm not sure what students will focus on after they are admitted to your group. For example, for students in EE track, will they still focus on algorithm design for signal processing or they will start to apply their knowledge of signal processing to hardware design?

Typically all the students in different tracks (e.g. EE) will work on AI-related projects. You can send me email for details.

Update: The deadline for application to ECE department is Jan. 31st instead of Dec. 1st.

Is there any position available now? And I notice the deadline has not changed so far.
