I only care about tastes but no prices. Service and atmosphere are also counted. The list contains best Japanese restaurants in my mind. Since Duluth is far away from midtown, I have very few knowledge about stores in Duluth.
1. Taka Sushi
385 Pharr Rd NE
Atlanta, GA 30305
(404) 869-2802
Category: Sushi Bars
Neighborhood: Buckhead
sushi: Best in ATL
service: one of the worst among top Japanese restaurants
atmosphere: average
Price: reasonable
It offers ramen, soba, and udon. To me, ramen here ain't as good as ramen of Sushi Jr. But Hashiguchi Sushi Jr. has been closed for more than 3 months so Taka sushi right now offers the best Ramen in ATL.
The sushi in Taka are also the best. The drawback is Taka does not offer various chocie, but most of great stores do not have a huge menu book. So this is okay.
2. Hashiguchi
3400 Around Lenox Rd NE
Atlanta, GA 31132
(404) 841-9229
Categories: Japanese, Sushi Bars
Neighborhood: Downtown
Service: among the best
food: among the best
location: next to Lenox mall
Price: reasonable
It has the best Ramen in ATL. Other dishes such as Yakitori are also great.
Its sushi are a little bit above average. Too bad it has been closed.
3. Sushi House Hayakawa
5979 Buford Hwy
Atlanta, GA 30340
(770) 986-0010
Categories: Japanese, Sushi Bars
Service: Warm, sweet,
Food: all Sushi are fantastic.
Noodle are worse than yakitori jinbei, so basically below average
Be patient because food are coming very slowly.
Atmosphere: Quiet and enjoyable
Authentic Japanese
Price: overpriced
The biggest problem is its sushi's price. Very very pricey.
I had a single dinner( one person) for $108! Compared to Taka sushi, I think the price is overcharged.
4. Tomo Japanese Restaurant
3630 Peachtree Rd
Atlanta, GA 30326
(404) 835-2708
Categories: Japanese, Sushi Bars, Asian Fusion
Neighborhood: Buckhead
Octopus tastes like rubber. They did not put enough efforts like taka. But still, it has lot of innovative dishes. I bet most Americans would love it although these dishes ain't traditional.
Let be fair, I am not saying they were not tasty. Tomo is still a good choice to go.
food: 5
Service: 5
Atmosphere:5
It does not offer ramen but when the concern is just sushi, tomo is… Read more »
5. Umezono Japanese Restaurant

My 3rd visit so far.
The service is improved significantly and amazed me.
Greatly various dishes although none of them is impressive enough.
The price is much lower than Taka or Tomo
Overall, a fabulous choice for daily dinning.
6. Haru Ichiban

A store offer various dishes but to my knowledge, none of its dishes excels obviously.
By excel, I mean, top one in ATL
Overall Haru is a store like Shoya Izakaya but with better quality.
7. Bishoku
5920 Roswell Rd
Sandy Springs, GA 30342
(404) 252-7998
Categories: Sushi Bars, Japanese
It has good dishes such as grilled seabass but overall nothing impressed me.
Sushi are okay. Tako sushi tasted like rubber, not tender at all.
But atmosphere and service are great.
I'd say it is a little bit worse than taka except service.
8. Shoya Izakaya
