大家都是怎么问学校office状态的？

抱着死马当活马医的态度， 我尝试着给我们学校office 发了个邮件

但是从回复来看，感觉好像他们不太清楚该怎么看这个 status pending.

“You need to send me a copy of your I-129 and Fedex/UPS delivery confirmation to USCIS in order to process your cap-gap I-20.”

这个I-129应该是被抽中才有的吧，Fedex/UPS delivery confirmation 应该是HR/律师那边有吧

Your SEVIS record in in active status and your OPT is in approved status. However, I think what you are referring to is the status of a pending H1b application. If this is the case, then please note that your SEVIS record will remain in active status even if you are selected in the H1b lottery.

Please also note that the ISSO cannot provide information on updates to a pending COS status as this would be speaking on behalf of USCIS. You will know if you were selected in the lottery when you or your attorney receive an official receipt notice from USCIS. This notice is the only official proof that you have been selected.

这是移民局规定呀, 可以工作到6.1

If a student chooses to obtain an updated Form I-20, the student should go to his or her DSO with evidence of a timely-filed H-1B petition (indicating a request for change of status rather than for consular processing), such as a copy of the petition and a FedEx, UPS, or USPS Express/certified mail receipt. The student’s DSO will issue an updated Form I-20, showing an extension until June 1.

但是你要快一些找dso，必须要在你opt过期之前搞定，哪怕拿到一个I-20扫描件也行。最好再跟公司immigration解释一下，有些人不懂。

我猜你学校说的Cap-Gap也可能是延期到6.1这个情况。前提你file的得是cos。

我也是一样的心理，问了一下学校ISSO，结果他们的回复给我也整懵了。。。我问的是有没有在我的sevis里面看到类似 change of status pending的东西。

“We won’t get that update in SEVIS for a long time, and even then it is inconsistent (sometimes we never get it).  Your employer needs to contact the law firm that helped them for an update.”

“The H-1B visa is between an employer and employee, so unfortunately, ISSS is not able to be involved in the process and cannot check the status.  However, once you receive a receipt number for the H-1B, we will be more than happy to print a Cap Gap extension I-20 for you.”

我觉得是工作人员不懂要怎么查吧…也懒得再问了

我就让他们帮我查看一下我的SEVIS status 因为我在抽签，然后他们就帮我查了说没变。。。

我OPT May9 就到期了，就想着再问下看看。

有准备backup plan吗。。。我们学校的这些个ISSO的人，有懂的，有不懂的，问过几个问题给过我完全相反的答案，贼不专业。。。我觉得

回国1年，L1回来。。

大概在US待到6月初，把车卖了什么的。

他的意思应该是USCIS不会及时更新SEVIS record, 并且有的人可能永远不会被更新吧

我问了，人家也不回。。。一群大爷。。。
