求问这种Skype面试有没有什么需要特别注意的

冷门专业博士申请，综排20多的冷门学校AP，我做了个我研究生期间的科研的PPT。。。但是看地里面好像大家对interview和chat是两种情况？所以只是聊聊兴趣爱好之类么

想请问下楼主怎么总结的chat 和 interview是两种情况这一说法呢？“地里所讲的”差别具体是什么呢？

个人目前7 skype面试，有说chat有说interview的，但感觉只和老师性格相关吧？问的问题其实都差不多：
research interest 谈一谈（针对每个lab肯定有侧重不同来准备）；
CV经历讲一讲，一般就谈两个项目差不多，有一个重点经历能轻松自如地展开聊细节就很够了；
Difficulty and how you overcome 其实可以同上；
Long-term goal, motivation, why PhD etc. 其实是一类问题；
对ta的lab的认识，即便对方不问，自己主动关联起来时都能感觉到对方感到很有兴趣了，大家都希望谈自己的研究吧；
准备一些问题问ta，可以是general or professional的问题，毕竟我觉得综合来看，比起“面试”更像是“交流”。

一个老师把我的CV里6个项目不分轻重从头问到尾...措手不及，很多学术细节的英语我没一个个看就有点磕巴；
一个问我某课程里学到了啥，完全没准备，这一段崩了；
一个老师追问我对中国种树这事的看法（生态专业）。

anyway，以上仅个人观点，希望对你有帮助。另外我还是挺感兴趣楼主如何总结那个差别的呢？

借楼再问一下这个陶瓷回复是积极的模板回复么，因为我想着读博换方向，所以没有申本硕的方向。。。这个学校和方向都是最想去的

Second - thank-you for getting in touch! Your research sounds very promising, and potentially a good fit for the department at XXXXX. Unfortunately I don't know yet if I'll be able to take a student in the Fall - a lot will depend on ongoing grant applications - however, given your expertise in XXXX, I would suggest you instead get in touch with Professors XXXX. I think these faculty members would be the best people to talk to...and...if you still want to work on ZZZZZ, there are plenty of things that need XXXXXX!

然后我考完GT之后又给他发了第二篇，他隔了半个月又回我了：
Apologies (again) for the delay in replying - I've been at the XXXXXXXX, and then had to XXXXX with my students. In any case, thank-you for getting back in touch! I'm glad the standardized tests went well; I remember taking those as well many years ago...

Our department is currently in discussions as to which professors will be allowed to take on new students next year. So...at the moment I don't know whether there will be any availabillities, BUT I will stay in touch, and let you know what happens - these discussions among faculty tend to be long and a bit argumentative! Do you happen to know when the application deadline is? If you let me know then I can make sure I get in touch before then to offer advice on submitting - I think XXXXXXX still charge an application fee (which is awful), so if I'm not going to be allowed to take another student next year, I can at least help prevent a waste of money.

In the event that I'm not able to take any applications, I can recommend two other folks who will be taking students, and who would be great people to work with. One is XXXXXX at the XXXXX, and the other is XXXXX at XXXX. XXXX and I have worked closely together for years, and he does great XXXXX. XXXX is just starting a faculty position at XXXX, and does really cool work on the XXXXX.

Again - let me know when the application deadline is, and I'll make sure to stay in touch.

我猜测他可能是不是在等有没有更适合的candidate，没有的话就要我。。。

感觉是个很诚恳的老师，即使最终没去成也可以继续保持联系哈。

大神是已经有7次Skype面试了吗。。我是CS背景的，目前还没有套磁，但是听同学说发邮件收到回复的五分之一不到吧

我也是大部分都是不回或者不收或者拒绝的...最后只有7个给了面试机会，但这些项目申请committee都很强，感觉离真拿offer都还差的远...加油吧

还有楼主怎么看待interview和chat的区别？想参考学习下

想问下大佬这种在线面试着装又没啥要求啊，要衬衫领带嘛，还是稍微正式一点就好啊

我觉得没有吧，卫衣也好T恤也罢，只有不邋遢真的感觉没有影响
这些老师也是很日常的着装。
是不是工作面试会要正式些？个人学术套磁面试，基本肯定不需要

7面试，很强很强，我的cv里只写了4个项目吧，还有一个本科凑数的 ，看来还是大佬厉害
