Research Description
The NanoEngineering and MicroSystems (NEMS) Laboratory at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) invites applications for several postdoctoral fellows, Ph.D. and visiting student/scholar openings beginning in Fall 2020. The research focus of this lab is to develop nano/micro-electro-mechanical systems (NEMS/MEMS) based on flexible and smart materials. Example research thrust areas include: (1) biomimetic devices for physiological interfacing; (2) wearable electronics for biosensing and drug delivery; (3) embedded sensors for structural health monitoring; and (4) biosensors for agricultural and environmental monitoring. For more information about the NEMS laboratory at UTA, please visit: http://nems.uta.edu
Requirements
Ph.D. students and postdoctoral fellows will be fully-funded. An ideal candidate is expected to have an earned degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering or a closely related field. Previous experience in nanotechnology, NEMS/MEMS fabrication, experimental and computational structural mechanics, wireless sensors and signal processing are preferred but not required.
Apply
Interested individuals should send the following information to Dr. Wen Shen at wen.shen@uta.edu:
• To apply for a Ph.D. position in the laboratory, please send a CV/resume, unofficial transcript, GRE and TOFEL scores. Please use the subject line “Ph.D. Application”.
• To apply for a postdoctoral fellowship in the laboratory, please send a CV, names and contact information of 3 references, and a one-page cover letter. Please use the subject line “Postdoc Application”.
