关于UW的一年的硕士项目的问题，希望各位各位筒子能给些建议，谢谢！

这是今早收到的uw的邮件：Thank you for your application to the University of Washington PhD Program in Materials Science and Engineering. Your file has been carefully reviewed by the graduate admissions committee and unfortunately, the committee has decided not to recommend you admission for our PhD program. It was a highly competitive and numerous pool of applicants which limited our ability to accept all qualified applicants.  

The good news is we are still reviewing applications for our Applied Master’s Degree Program and would like to consider your application for this incoming Autumn 2013 cohort.  This professional degree program is designed for students seeking to earn their Master of Science (MS) in Materials Science and Engineering. This is a fast track program that is designed to be completed in one year. Instead of a thesis requirement, a final written and oral final report is required. This program is self-sustaining / not supported by state funds and does not offer assistantships and stipends. The current non-resident tuition rates for this program is available here http://opb.washington.edu/content/tuition-and-required-fees?year=2012-13&qtr=4&campus=0&category=30&res=2&submit=Submit  

Please let me know by Sunday, April 21 if you would like to be considered for our Applied Master’s Degree program. If we don’t receive a response from you by this date we will understand that you are not interested in this program and wish you the best in your future academic endeavors.

有哪位筒子对这种一年的项目有了解的么？能否转成正常的两年的ms呢？

我申请的时候是申的下面这个项目里的master

PhD degree in Materials Science & EngineeringThe PhD degree program is geared toward students who wish to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). There is also the option of applying to the Master of Science (MS) thesis track program. These degree tracks offer educational & research opportunities in processing, characterization, and properties of all classes of materials. Thesis or dissertation research opportunities are available for leading-edge, interdisciplinary work. Research and teaching assistantships and stipends are often available for students who are accepted into this program. The expected time frame for full-time graduate students is two years for the master’s degree and five years for the Ph.D.多谢各位回答，感激不尽

看来和Cornell的MEng一个性质吧，职业学位，只用上课没thesis，要继续申博就不用考虑这种了

多谢回答！那你的意思是这种项目不太可能转成正常的ms吧

一年的项目 一直都是个疑问，还是问问小蜜好了.......USC也不错哦
