Multiple PhD positions with fully financial support are available in 2021 fall in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Utah. The admitted PhD students are expected to work with Dr. Jianli Chen in smart building and infrastructure management, including but not limited to building energy and airflow modeling, smart building operation, renewable energy integration, artificial intelligence, sensing, occupant modeling and comfort, and advanced infrastructure management. The research will be interdisciplinary by nature. Students with backgrounds of Mechanical Engineering, Electric Engineering, Computer Science, Electric Engineering, Architectural Engineering and Civil Engineering are all welcome to apply.

To apply, students should submit CV/resume, unofficial transcript, Personal Statement and 3 references contact to the department. GRE is required. International students should provide the English Proficiency test TOEFL/IELTS score. The minimum requirement is 80 for TOEFL or 6.5 for IELTS.
