Ph.D. and Postdoc Positions @ The University of Texas at Arlington

Multiple fully funded Ph.D. and Postdoc positions available in the Dynamical Networks and Control Laboratory directed by Dr. Yan Wan at the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Texas at Arlington. The university is located at the Dallas-Fort Worth Area, the fourth largest metropolitan area in the United States with many high-tech companies and convenient lifestyles.

The research areas of these positions are generally related to reinforcement learning, controls, game theory, wireless networking, and their applications to cyber-physical system applications such as autonomous driving, urban aerial mobility, and robot teaming.  Applications for the Ph.D. positions are required to have received a Bachelor's degree in a related engineering field or mathematics. Applicants for the Postdoctoral positions are required to have received a Ph.D. degree in related fields. Self-motivated students with a strong theoretical background and/or rich hands-on experience are encouraged to apply. Excellent writing and communication skills are expected. Previous research experience with a good publication record will be highly valued.

Bio: Dr. Yan Wan is currently a Professor in the Electrical Engineering Department at the University of Texas at Arlington. Her research interests lie in the modeling, evaluation, and control of large-scale dynamical networks, cyber-physical system, stochastic networks, decentralized control, learning control, networking, uncertainty analysis, algebraic graph theory, and their applications to urban aerial mobility, autonomous driving, robot networking, and air traffic management. She received research grants from NSF, ONR, ARO, NIST, IEEE, Ford, Toyota, Lockheed, and MITRE Corporation as subcontracts from the FAA. Her research has led to over 190 publications and successful technology transfer outcomes. She has been recognized by several prestigious awards, including the NSF CAREER Award, RTCA William E. Jackson Award, U.S. Ignite and GENI demonstration awards, IEEE WCNC and ICCA Best Paper Awards, UTA Outstanding Research Achievement Award, and Tech Titan of the Future – University Level Award. She currently serves as the Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Control of Network Systems, IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics: Systems, Transactions of the Institute of Measurement and Control, Unmanned Systems, and Journal of Advanced Control for Applications. She also serves as a Conference Editorial Board Member of the IEEE Control Systems Society, and Technical Committee Member of AIAA Intelligent Systems, IEEE CSS Nonlinear Systems and Control, and IEEE CSS Networks and Communication Systems.
