Description: Neuromuscular RehabilitationEngineering Laboratory in NCSU/UNC Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering isseeking applicants for several research assistant positions with immediateopening in the following research areas: (1) robotic control and optimalcontrol, (2) neural-machine interface, (3) machine learning and biomedicalsignal processing, and (4) biomechanics and motor control. We encourage highly motivated students in Biomedical,Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or other related majors to apply our Ph.D.program and participate in our exciting research projects. Successfulcandidates will have access to the excellent research resources in both the Collegeof Engineering at North Carolina State University and School of Medicine at theUniversity of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Requirement: Students with MS degrees andresearch experience in rehabilitation engineering or robotics are preferred. Successfulcandidates must be available in the Spring or Fall 2014. We are specificallylooking for students with the following research interests and background: Field1:Biomedical signal processing, machine learning Required Background and Skills:
- Strong algorithm development and theoretical analysis capability
- Proficient in machine learning, probability theory, and data fusion.
- Understand the property of human electrophysiological signals . check 1point3acres for more.
- Previous experiences with human subject related research (experimental design, data collection, and statistical analysis)
- Strong programming skills (C/C++ and MATLAB)

DesiredExperience and Skills:
- Background on human movement control, motion analysis, and gait analysis.
- Previous experiences with neural-machine interface or brain-machine interface
- Previous experiences with hardware integration and data acquisition
Field2:Robotic Control, Mechatronics Required Background and Skills:
- Proficient in control theory, adaptive control, and optimal control
- Strong background on robotic system control and design
- Modeling and simulation (dynamic modeling and/or finite element modeling)
- Previous experiences in system integration and sensor integration
- Strong programming skills (C/C++). Χ

- Previous experiences with Labview .
- Previous experiences with human-robot interface design
- Previous experiences on bipedal robot control
Field3:Biomechanics and Human Motor Control Required Background and Skills:
- Proficient in human gait analysis, motion analysis, and human motor control theory
- Biomechanical modeling (human dynamic modeling, musculoskeletal modeling)
- Previous experiences in study human kinematics and kinetics
- Strong programming skills (MATLAB)
DesiredExperience and Skills:
- Previous experience in analyzing biomechanics of healthy subjects and people with physical disabilities
- Previous experience in modeling neural control of human balance and locomotion
