Ebay is currently forcing employees in Texas (who have no electricity or heat) to use up their PTO until Texas recovers. Contractors are getting no pay at all. Such a great culture, clearly.

Metrics to watch:
Revenue in ‘20 was $10.3B (up 19%) vs Amazon $280B
185 million customers vs 500M for Amazon
GMV per visitor $4.69 vs Amazon $4.90
61% of eBay buyers are aged 35 to 64

Ebay struggles in capturing value compared to Amazon and Shopify and innovation has all but stalled since 2014. They’re hoping expanding to China and making listing cheaper for sellers will attract more volume - in reality they’re a stalled legacy company.

TLDR: Some long term stock upside but a culture that leaves people behind.
