Opinions here about changing into cs are almost the same as mine. As non-cs students, even if you have some programming experiences, your coding amount is far from enough, and you lack professional and comprehensive training. It means that those guys from cs are much better than you in programming. If you are trying to study cs without primary preparation, you will greatly suffer from your projects, even not gonna survive the competition with cs guys.
If you are sure to study cs, you'd better have basic grasp on oop, data structures, os, and database.
It is absolutely not necessary for everyone to study cs. If you feel ok with circuits or digital design, then go ahead with them. If you can get "A" for in all hardware courses, I think you will probably find a hardware position.
However, if you have made your mind to study cs, please start preparing yourself as soon as possible. Study cs without necessary background will be nightmares. Remember: from today, to the second year's fall quarter(semester) , you have only one or two years to prepare yourself for all the interviews. You must catch up with cs guys who have 4-5 years of cs experiences within only 1-2 years. You can easily imagine how tough it will be. So, make a choice, then fight for you dreams. Good luck everyone. |
