BusinessModeling and Analytics – Data Scientist

Chase is the U.S.consumer and commercial banking business of JPMorgan Chase & Co. CentralizedTransaction Operations (CTO), which is aligned under Consumer and CommunityBanking (CCB), provides a wide range of global operational support and servicesfor retail, commercial, treasury, asset wealth management and credit cardcustomers. CTO has approximately 3,500 employees and is committed to a culturebased on Shared Values and Behaviors. An ongoing focus for the organization iscontinuous improvement - on behalf of the firm, shareholders, and foremost,customers - as achieved through a structured business planning and executionmodel. Performance Consulting, aligned under CTO, is a highly visible internalconsulting team that supports JPMorgan Chase's Operations organization andother strategic lines of business.

BusinessModeling and Analytics (BMA), which is a part ofPerformance Consulting, develops, deploys and supports customized, advancedanalytical, simulation modeling and capacity planning/management solutions todeliver business value. The primary tools and methods used include predictivemodeling, text mining, statistical forecasting and analysis, decision science,optimization, and simulation modeling.

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate     the current operational environment to identify opportunities to leverage     analytics.
• Perform     advanced quantitative/statistical analysis of large datasets to identify     interesting trends, patterns, or correlations that can be used to improve     business performance.
• Turn     deep insights generated by analyzing data and understanding operational     processes into actionable recommendations which realize business value.
• Identify     opportunities to streamline data collection and data management.
• Build     presentations to summarize and communicate key messages to senior     management sponsors.
• Become     a subject matter expert and trusted advisor in the analytics discipline.
  

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have:

• Spring     2014 graduation, minimum GPA 3.0. MS/PhD in one of the following preferred     areas of study: Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science,     Mathematics
  

• 2-3      years work experience, or internships/co-ops in an analytics discipline
• Deeply      curious, enthusiastic problem solver
• Continual      learning and development is a passion
• Able      to effectively navigate an occasionally ambiguous, semi-structured work environment      
• Creativity      and imagination
• Loves      to analyze data  and write code
• Collaborative
  

• Knowledge     of statistics and coding (SAS/SQL a plus)
• Strong     business acumen
  

• Translates      technical details, observations and results into business language
• Effective      communication and presentation skills
• Influencer      and trusted advisor
