Dr. Xiangcheng Sun is seeking highly motivated graduate students (1-2 Ph.D. and 2-4 Master students) as well as visiting students and scholars, starting from Spring, Summer or Fall, 2022. Ph.D. candidates will be provided with financial support (including ~ $50K tuition and $27K stipend) throughout their studies. The candidates should have a B.S. or M.S. (preferred) degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science and Engineering or closed-related field. Candidates with background/experience in following areas are highly encouraged to apply: materials development and preparation, organic synthesis, sensing, catalysis, spectroscopy, and optical microscope. Dr. Sun obtained his doctoral degree from the University of Connecticut, and conducted postdoctoral research at Cornell University and University of California, Santa Barbara. He joined the Chemical Engineering Department at RIT as a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Fall 2021. Dr. Sun's research focuses on the development of fluorescent materials for sensing and catalysis. One project is involved with the development of fluorescent nanomaterials and organic dyes for chemical sensing and biosensing. In addition, novel reactions are investigated through single-molecule catalysis and super-resolution imaging with the newly developed dyes.
