The INtelligent, high-SPeed & Integrated Radio Electronics (INSPIRE) Lab directed by Prof. Kenle Chen at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ranked 53 according to US News 2023), University of Central Florida (UCF), is looking for multiple highly-motivated Ph.D. students.
The candidates are expected to have a theoretical background and/or hands-on experience in at least one of the following areas: IC, Microwave, Electromagnetics, and Wireless Communications. Funding support (Fellowship/RA/TA) including full tuition coverage plus a competitive stipend will be offered to qualified applicants.

Prof. Chen is a highly reputational scholar in active RF circuits and transmitter systems, and he also has extensive industry experience and connections. His research is mainly focused on:
1) Energy- and spectrum-efficient RF/mm-Wave circuits and systems for 5G/6G communications,
2) Extreme-performance power amplifiers in silicon and compound-semiconductor technologies,
3) AI-empowered RF/mm-Wave circuits and wireless systems,
4) Enabling RF technologies for revolutionary communication paradigms.
Within only four years, Prof. Chen’s group has won multiple prestigious research-based awards, including
1st Place Best Paper Award in IEEE International Microwave Symposium 2020 (flagship conference of IEEE MTT-S),
Best Paper Award in IEEE WAMICON 2019,
2 Times of 1st Place Award in IEEE MTT-S “High-Efficiency Power Amplifier” Design Competition,
2 Times of 1st Place Award in IEEE MTT-S “Carrier Aggregation” Design Competition.
Students recently graduated from INSPIRE Lab are all employed by tier-one semiconductor company.
