Dr. Xiao Zhang at CISPA Helmholtz Center for Information Security (Germany) is looking for multiple fully-funded Ph.D. students working on the following topics:



- Adversarial Machine Learning and its Applications
- Trustworthy Machine Learning (Robustness, Interpretability, Privacy, Fairness)

Xiao Zhang (https://xiao-zhang.net/) is a faculty member at CISPA. His research mainly focuses on the intersection of machine learning and security. Over the past few years, Xiao has published multiple papers at top machine learning conferences, including NeurIPS, ICLR and ICML. He has also served on technical program committees.

CISPA (https://cispa.de/en) is one of the world-leading research institutes concentrating on information security and privacy. At the moment, it is ranked number one in the field of security worldwide (see CSrankings.org: http://csrankings.org/#/index?sec&world). Located in Saarbruecken Germany, CISPA is the newest member of the Helmholtz Association (https://www.helmholtz.de/en/), the largest scientific organization in Germany fully committed to scientific excellence and to tackling grand research challenges. The working language of CISPA is English.

Requirements:

- A bachelor/master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics or related fields
- Passionate for doing research in machine learning and information security
- Strong computer programming skills
- Good English speaking and writing skills (knowledge of German is not required)
- Strong mathematical and statistical background is a plus

What we offer:

- Full-time working contract with E13-level salary (~2,400 euros per month for 12 months in a year)
