The Institute of Data Science at The University of Hong Kong is seeking applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow position in mathematical data science. Potential research topics include theoretical analysis and algorithmic design for deep neural networks, diffusion-based generative models, sampling or decision-making under uncertainty. This is a full-time position with a fixed-term contract of 2 years. The successful candidate will conduct research with and jointly supervised by Dr. Man-Chung Yue and Dr. Difan Zou. We aim to look for 1~2 postdocs starting from 2023 Fall or early 2024 (time is flexible).

Benefits

• Annual salary of up to HK$514,800 (~US$66,000)

Requirements

• A PhD degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics)
• Solid mathematical background, research experience related to PDEs, stochastic pro- cesses, and/or differential geometry is especially preferred
• Proficiency in written and spoken English
• Self-motivated and hardworking
• Proven publication record
