Fully funded PhD and MSc positions are available in Sept 2023 or Jan 2024 at the University of Alberta in Canada. The MSc/PhD is expected to work with Dr. Ying Hei Chui and Dr. Qipei (Gavin) Mei and to develop AI technologies to timber structural design.
Qualifications of the Applicant:
• Must hold or are expected to obtain an Bachelor’s degree (for MSc applicants) and Master’s degree (for PhD applicants) in a relevant discipline (e.g., civil engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, applied math, etc.).
• Meet the minimum requirements set by the University of Alberta
• Fascinated by problem-solving, exploring and creating new knowledge.
• Should be highly motivated, well organized and passionate about research, with good communication skills in English.
• The applicant should have a strong desire to conduct transformational research in close collaboration with the industry.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct research independently or in a team.
• Excellent skills in programming are required.
• Experience in paper writing and publishing is an asset.
• Experience in machine/deep learning algorithms is an asset.
• Experience in timber structural design is an asset.
