求助Personal History Statement和Statement of Purpose的区别

看到UCSC要求了两篇文书，可实在不太明白两篇应该有什么本质区别，希望小伙伴们帮我分辨一下，以及顺便问一下，一页大概指多少词？

• Personal History Statement
  [size=1em]The Personal History Statement is required of all applicants.This statement will be used in conjunction with your application for graduate admission and financial support. Please note that the Personal History Statement should not duplicate the Statement of Purpose.
  [size=1em]UC Santa Cruz is interested in a diverse and inclusive graduate student population. In an essay, discuss how your personal background informs your decision to pursue a graduate degree. Please include any educational, familial, cultural, economic, or social experiences, challenges, or opportunities relevant to your academic journey; how you might contribute to social or cultural diversity within your chosen field; and/or how you might serve underrepresented segments of society with your degree.
  Recommended length is a concise 1-3 pages, single-spaced.

• Statement of Purpose
  [size=1em]This should be a concise, well-written essay about your background and your reasons for pursuing graduate study in the field you have chosen. Selection committees place particular importance on the statement of purpose. It exhibits your ability to present ideas in clear, coherent language. Your statement of purpose should indicate:
  [size=1em]- How knowledgeable you are in the desired field of study
  [size=1em]- How your undergraduate studies and other experiences (work, community involvement, and so forth) serve as a foundation for graduate study
  [size=1em]- How and why you intend to build on this foundation of knowledge and apply your graduate training to social or theoretical problems

个人感觉，PH是为了diversity准备的，应该重点描述身世（比如你是你家第一代大学生blablabla..这个要重点写）以及为什么对本校本major感兴趣，是什么让你走上了这条阳（bu）光（gui）道（lu）。。
SOP应该重点突出你做了些什么，想做什么，来这打算研究什么。黑历史悲情史什么的就不用说了。。。
总之，PH注重情感SOP注重逼格，侧重点不同。
纯个人看法，求轻拍~话说规定的字数是不是有点多啊，2-4 pages差不多1000-3000字了吧

我感觉PHS和SOP本身就有很多交集啊，分开写也就算了，还有这种页数要求，那我这种一共才写了一页半的是没法拆成3页了。。。囧

是PH。PS应该跟SOP主题写法更接近，尤其只要一个PS的时候
