Key distinction: authorized stay ≠ lawful statusUSCIS Policy Manual (Volume 7, Part B, Chapter 3) is explicit:

“Lawful immigration status is distinct from being in a period of authorized stay. Periods of authorized stay are only relevant when determining an alien’s accrual of unlawful presence for inadmissibility purposes. Although an alien in a lawful immigration status is also in a period of authorized stay, the opposite is not necessarily true.”

A pending adjustment application “does not confer lawful immigration status” and “does not automatically afford protection against removal if the alien’s status expires after submission of the application. The alien may have no actual lawful status in the United States and may be subject to removal proceedings unless and until … the adjustment application … is approved.”

你自己没见过不代表没有。本admin还真deport。公司内部讨论就有同事的亲戚被deport的。 i94过期了哪怕485 pending最好不要去坐飞机。我是在对楼主提供insights，你非要放飞自我寻求deport那请便。

本admin还真deport过，你不会想走到移民法官哪里去的。能避免被ice抓就避免，为什么要想被ice抓了后在移民法官面前如何被判呢，对吧？既然实践上谨慎为妙，那就是在能做努力的时候就要避免自己走到这些边缘状态上
